Strobilanthes crispus, a local medicinal plant was screened for selected classes of phytochemicals within the stem bark and evaluated for antioxidant as well as antibacterial potential. Results demonstrated that the methanol extract exhibited the highest percentage yield of 7.2068%. Meanwhile, phytochemical analysis revealed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, terpenoids, and phenols. The antioxidant activity of the methanolic extract displayed a remarkable 94.18% inhibition at 1000 ppm, with an IC50 value of 115.13 ppm. Nevertheless, no antibacterial activities were discovered. Overall, the present findings highlight the rich antioxidant potential from this plant, thereby shedding light on its potential therapeutic applications.
