This study explores using criteria to enhance academic essay writing, aiming to develop critical thinking and improve overall essay quality. The literature review shows the effectiveness of checklists in supporting writing processes, ensuring academic standards, and enabling self-assessment. Integrating criteria into writing pedagogy is beneficial, but further research and implementation in education settings are necessary.
