Our invention, Safety Baton, is designed to reduce traffic control conflicts in front of schools with busy traffic routes. The safety of students crossing the road in front of schools is a concern for parents. Different physical factors in the school environment contribute to varying levels of safety for pedestrians (students). The physical design of the school environment has a direct relationship with the conflict rate between pedestrians (students) and motor vehicles. It has been found that the flow of traffic-pedestrians, road width, pedestrian routes, and traffic wardens have a significant effect on the conflict rate, with traffic wardens having the highest impact.
