ST981: High Energy Ultrafast Ytterbium-doped Fiber Laser

Mohamad Akmal Mohamad Lutfi University Of Malaya

This project showcases the generation of high-energy ultrafast ytterbium-doped fiber lasers, which have numerous significant applications. Utilizing a specialized double-clad ytterbium-doped fiber, we achieved pulses with an extremely brief duration of 108 femtoseconds at a wavelength of 1 micron. Each of these pulses has generated pulse energy up to 348 nJ. The laser operates reliably, producing stable pulses, which makes it ideal for various practical applications. This successful demonstration highlights the potential of fiber lasers in several applications, such as laser writing, cutting, or welding.
