Abstract:
Nature’s Packing Solution is an interdisciplinary project where students design and create biodegradable packaging prototypes using natural materials found around their school compound. By integrating science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), the project explores material properties, decomposition, and sustainable design. Students utilize resources such as banana leaves and stems, pandan leaves, potato starch, cornstarch, paper pulp, beeswax wraps, and molds to develop eco-friendly alternatives to single-use plastic. These biodegradable packages not only serve as packaging but can also be repurposed as fertilizers, emphasizing environmental sustainability and circular resource use. The project encourages innovation and practical application of STEM principles.
