This project examines the behaviors of ants towards the smell given out by the ant pouch. The hypothesis proposed that ants would become inactive or ‘dizzy’ when exposed to the ant pouch and eventually drift away from the places that smell. By using a jar, we gathered a bunch of ants for a test. Ant pouch is put into the jar and closed with a lid so the odor given out by the pouch will not seep out. The behavior of ants is investigated. Results showed that the ants took 2 minutes and 18 seconds to become inactive or passive from exhaling the gases released by the pouch. The data supports the hypothesis that ants became inactive when exposed to the ant’s pouch. The fi nding could have implications for producing a convenient, mobile odor pouch made up of organic materials that you can put anywhere the ants frequently visit.
