Over three years of coastal water observation in Busan revealed consistently "very poor" water and sediment quality due to high levels of heavy metals, notably iron (OSJ, 2019). This contamination poses significant health risks to humans and threatens aquatic organism survival. Addressing these issues, the Hy-Purge project was developed, aiming to purify water in line with SDG 6, remove physical waste, and transmit real-time pH data. Hy-Purge, an autonomous robot, employs bioremediation using date seeds to absorb heavy metals. Equipped with advanced sensors, it detects and locates pollutants, offering a comprehensive solution to restore and maintain Busan's coastal waters' health.
