Access to clean water is a growing global concern. Most existing water filters are made from synthetic materials that are expensive, non-biodegradable, and difficult to recycle. Aqua Boo introduces a sustainable, eco-friendly, and portable water filtration and purification system using natural materials such as bamboo, charcoal, cotton, pebbles, fine sand, betel leaves, orange peels, and wheatgrass. Bamboo is selected for its natural antibacterial properties, while charcoal and layered natural filters remove impurities and contaminants. The purification process is further enhanced using organic materials, ensuring the water is safe to drink. A TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) meter is used to assess water quality. This method supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 — Clean Water and Sanitation — by offering an accessible and affordable solution. The total cost of producing one Aqua Boo unit is less than RM10, making it highly cost-effective and suitable for low-income communities, rural areas, disaster zones, and emergency use. Future improvements aim to miniaturize the filter for easier portability. Overall, Aqua Boo is a promising low-cost, sustainable alternative to conventional water filters, offering a practical way to ensure access to clean and safe drinking water while minimizing environmental impact.
