It is crucial for pupils to write sentences with correct syntax along with use of different tenses. Hence, traffic light STEP sentencing kit is innovated. traffic light STEP sentencing kit is chosen as a solution to adhere sentence writing problem. This traffic light STEP sentencing kit is innovated based on individual learning and student centered. Pupils use the colour code in traffic light sentencing to remember the sequence of parts of sentence in order. Besides, fun learning is instilled in this innovation because it’s more hands on and colourful. This can capture pupils’ interest in learning to write sentences using colour code sentencing. The use of this innovation entitled traffic light STEP sentencing enhance the understanding of writing sentences among the pupils in the primary school. The results proved that this innovation method is effective. It is important to use 4 square sentencing kit which to suits pupils’ level of proficiency and learning preferences such as according to Multiple Intelligence. In this innovation, the use of these traffic light STEP sentencing kit is effective due to the attention-grabbing criteria (colourful template to capture pupils’ interest and retention on remembering the sentence parts), link of pictures and colours to cognition regarding understanding of subject matter (writing sentences in correct structure and grammar), multiple intelligences of pupils (the progress from using the labelled pictures with verbs words and towards just picture without labeling). This innovation is able to yield productive and qualitative result of this implementation. This kit is based on sentencing using coloured in traffic light sentence writing template along with pictures [single picture (with written verbs and only pictures), composite picture] and tense template (can be attached or taken off). For the beginners or average students, they can use the picture with verbs written as this exposes them to a range of vocabularies and the other set of pictures only without the verbs written used for advanced students. Other than this template, the verb tense template trains students write different sentence tenses. This project followed the sequence of methodologies to prove the effectiveness. Firstly, the problem is defined based on sentence writing difficulties as in knowledge and skill. Second, the root cause is pupils can’t grasp the sentences syntax and lack of vocabularies. Third, traffic light STEP sentencing kit is developed as the intervention. Fifth, 4 squares template is used to write sentences based on the pictures provided. For individual learning, QR code is given to view on the use of this kit. Lastly, the outcome is prevalent as improvisation seen in sentence writing with least error. The effectiveness is tested with 10 pupils. The total scores and mean scores for the conventional method (550 and 55 respectively) and intervention method (735 and 73.5 respectively). The results show intervention method (kit) scored higher than conventional method. The difference in total scores and mean scores is 185 and 18.5 respectively. As conclusion, the use of this innovation is proven to enhance writing sentences among primary pupils.
