ABSTRACT

People with disabilities often face challenges when operating electrical appliances manually. To address this issue, the "COOLMATE" project was developed by the FOURIOBOX team from SMK Sri Kurau. COOLMATE is a smart fan system specially designed to assist individuals with special needs by allowing them to control the fan through multiple automated inputs. The system integrates HuskyLens (AI camera) for face recognition, a PIR motion sensor, a touch button, and an ultrasonic sensor for enhanced safety. The two main outputs are a relay that controls the fan and a buzzer for warning signals.

The fan is activated for 20 seconds upon detecting either facial recognition or motion, and will automatically turn off after 10 seconds of inactivity. Additionally, the built-in safety feature uses an ultrasonic sensor to stop the fan and trigger the buzzer if an object is detected within a 20 cm range, preventing potential accidents. The system is powered by an Arduino Uno microcontroller. The main objective of this project is to improve the independence and quality of life for people with disabilities through simple and practical technological innovation.
