ST1181: ANAEROBIC DIGESTOR

NIK AHMAD HAZIQ BIN HARUN POLITEKNIK SULTAN ABDUL HALIM MU'ADZAM SHAH

This project focuses on the design and implementation of a sustainable household-scale anaerobic digester system for converting food waste into biogas energy and organic fertilizer. The system utilizes a combination of water, cow dung, and organic waste materials to facilitate the anaerobic digestion process. The project aims to address the environmental issues associated with food waste disposal while promoting sustainable energy practices at the household level. Additionally, the production of organic fertilizer is a by-product of anaerobic digestion. The physical of the project is built with a DIY (do it yourself) concept using some recycled material. With the 0.25m3 volume tank and 2-3kg daily waste loading rate, we collected full gas container every day (0.046m3) with 27.6 litre of methane equivalent to 383.33Wh of energy. Through this project, we seek to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of household-scale anaerobic digestion systems in converting food waste into valuable resources, thereby promoting environmental sustainability and energy independence at the grassroots level.
