Mohd Al Faiz Jumin UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI MARA CAWANGAN PERLIS

COMEL is a research programme that integrates Computational Thinking with the teaching of English in the domains of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). The objectives of COMEL are to facilitate children in acquiring English language proficiency through an engaging, thematic, and interactive methodology; to enable children to grasp computational thinking (CT) concepts through the integration of TRIZ an acronym in Russian for "Teoriya Resheniya Izobretatelskikh Zadatch,", while simultaneously incorporating English language learning within a thematic STEM approach; and to utilise ICT in education to enhance English language acquisition and foster a genuine interest in STEM. COMEL employed a novel approach based on TRIZ, a pedagogical instrument designed to address unconventional challenges and tasks. Only four TRIZ principles were applied in COMEL: Dynamism, Segmentation, Multi-function (universality), and Nested doll.
