GP-Nov, a guideline for teaching novels in secondary schools, was developed through a three-phase design and development research approach: needs analysis, design and development, and evaluation. The guideline aims to assists teachers in implementing student-centered teaching strategies to foster an engaging learning environment. Grounded in constructivist and active learning theories, these strategies enable teachers to systematically plan activities, while students actively participate. Learning activities involve small group work aimed at common goals, ensuring active student engagement. GP-Nov integrates various elements to support teachers in creating an active learning environment, enhancing student language skills, encouraging holistic development, and increasing participation and engagement in learning.
