SANJHANAA A/P SARAWANAN THE LEARNING CURVE VENTURES
Malaysia experiences frequent heavy rainfall and monsoon seasons, leading to severe flooding in low-lying areas such as Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, and Johor. Traditional farmlands in these regions are highly vulnerable, as floodwaters wash away crops, damage soil quality, and disrupt the livelihoods of farmers. With climate change causing more unpredictable weather patterns, there is an urgent need for a flood-resilient farming solution that can sustain food production despite rising water levels. The Floating Agroforest Farming System is a climate-adaptive agricultural innovation designed to thrive in flood-prone Malaysian regions. By utilizing buoyant platforms, this system allows crops to grow on water instead of being submerged during floods. This innovation can be used in flood-affected regions, helping communities grow food sustainably even during heavy rainfall and flooding. This experiment demonstrates that floating agroforests can serve as a sustainable farming method in flood-prone areas. By using floating platforms, farmers can prevent crop loss due to flooding and create resilient agricultural systems.
