The IoT-Based LPG Gas Leak Detector and Alert Device (IGas) is a life-saving innovation designed to prevent gas explosions by detecting leaks and providing timely alerts. Gas leaks occur due to various factors, including damaged tanks, faulty hoses, stove malfunctions, external conditions, or human error, posing severe risks to households, restaurants, and factories. The IGas system features two models: Model A, which detects gas leaks and triggers a local alarm, and Model B, which includes IoT functionality, sending alerts directly to users’ mobile phones via Telegram, a secure and widely accessible app. The system operates through a gas sensor linked to a microprocessor, activating the alarm and, in Model B, transmitting data to a server via a Wi-Fi module, which then sends real-time notifications. Highly cost-effective, IGas was developed for RM 150 per unit and can be sold at RM 250, making it an affordable and essential safety solution. This innovation aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 9 (Industry, Infrastructure, and Innovation), emphasizing the importance of technological advancements in public safety. IGas has the potential to protect lives and the environment by preventing fatal gas explosions through early detection and alerts.
