Ricota Bio-Straw is an environmentally friendly alternative to plastic straws produced from renewable resources. This innovation aimed to prepare biodegradable straw using rice flour, tapioca starch and corn starch. Based on the result of experiment, the optimal formulation with a ratio of 3:1:1 showed the best appearance, highest tensile strength, lowest water absorption, and temperature resistance above 50°C. The bio-straw remained durable in cold water for 2 hours and warm water for 45 minutes, while fully biodegrading within 9 days. In addition, the compostable waste can enrich soil nutrients, producing a sustainable, biodegradable, and cost-effective alternative to plastic straws.
