ST1404: Integration Of Spatial Elements In Geography Subject Using GIS Technology

The Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) is committed to promote 21st century technology advancements in learning and facility in line with Malaysia's Education Development Plan 2013 to 2025. In addition, the Perlis Education Transformation Plan outlines goals to increase numbers of competence of teachers and students as well as advance technology in the classroom. However, students' interest in geography subjects is currently dropping because they find the subject difficult to understand and teachers' implementation of technological advancements is still in its early stages with minimal bearing for student’s learning process. Thus, this study aims to propose GeoCraft, an interesting storytelling platform to learn Geography subjects as well as increase students' enthusiasm outside the classroom environment. Outcomes for this study was digital geography contents, which integrated spatial elements using the Geographical Information System (GIS) platform based on learning experience. This will contribute to the creation of fresh towards innovation idea by creating own contents as well as increase the interest among students from Geography subject that is aligned with the nation direction in learning process.
