Lorries have larger blind spots than other vehicles and the current existing blind spot sensor is too expensive and requires complicated installation. The objective is to create an Arduino based Blind Spot Sensor namely IoT Smart Eyes. The prototype consists of an Arduino ESP32 Microcontroller, Ultrasonic sensor, breadboard, jumper wires, two magnets, battery holder and battery. The key features are to detect objects in lorry’s blind spot and to send notification with warning alarm to the driver’s mobile phone via Telegram at real time. The benefits are low cost (RM 40), easy installation and to improve road safety (SDG 11.2).
