The issue of excessive oil disposal from food waste has been identified as a major cause of clogged sink drains and water pollution in rivers and oceans. This situation negatively impacts the environment and domestic drainage systems. In response, an innovation has been introduced using coconut husk as an eco-friendly oil absorbent. Coconut husk was chosen because it is an easily available waste material, low in cost, and has a high oil absorption capacity. The main objective of this innovation is to reduce excess oil from food waste before disposal, thereby preventing clogged sinks and reducing water pollution. The use of coconut husk not only helps cut costs but also promotes recycling practices and the sustainable use of natural resources.
This innovation aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 6 and 12, which emphasize the importance of clean water management and responsible consumption of resources.
