The Earthquake Detector Alarm is a simple yet effective device designed to detect ground vibrations caused by earthquakes and alert individuals to take immediate safety precautions. Created using easily available materials such as cardboard, a metal nut, buzzer, LED, battery, PVC pipe, and wires, this project demonstrates how basic science concepts can be applied to develop a life-saving tool. Under normal conditions, the circuit remains open, and the buzzer stays off. However, during an earthquake, vibrations cause the metal nut to shift and touch both conductive strips, completing the circuit and activating the alarm. This early warning system provides valuable seconds for people to take cover, helping reduce injuries and property damage. The device also educates students about electronics and natural disasters, encouraging awareness and preparedness. In the future, this device can be enhanced with digital features like sending alerts to smartphones, making it even more effective for real-time earthquake warning systems.
