MICROSORT MANIA is an innovative science-based educational game developed to enhance students’ understanding of microorganism classification in the Years 6 Science syllabus. The game applies a color sorting concept where students arrange types of microorganism into the correct containers according to microorganism groups. This interactive approach transforms conventional learning into a fun and engaging activity that stimulates critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. The innovation addresses students’ difficulty in memorising and differentiating characteristics of microorganisms through textbooks alone. MICROSORT MANIA increases student participation, improves concept mastery, and creates a more student-centred learning environment. The game also possesses commercial potential as an educational STEM product suitable for schools, science exhibitions, and educational innovation competitions.
