Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) face persistent challenges from Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders (WMSDs), which negatively impact workers’ health, safety, comfort, and productivity, while driving up operational costs. Existing ergonomic risk assessment tools are often too complex, time-consuming, or costly for widespread adoption, particularly in resource-limited environments. To address this gap, the PMuDRA application was developed as an innovative, cost-effective, and user-friendly tool tailored for SME workers to self-assess their WMSD risk. Unlike traditional approaches, PMuDRA integrates physical, cognitive, and personal risk factors into a single, unified assessment platform. It features a simplified scoring system and intuitive documentation process, enabling early detection and proactive intervention. Successfully piloted in the palm oil industry, PMuDRA has demonstrated measurable benefits, including improved worker safety and comfort, enhanced productivity, and reduced injury-related costs. By empowering both workers and employers with personalised risk insights, PMuDRA supports sustainable workplace improvements. It aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and holds strong potential for broader commercial application and social impact. PMuDRA represents a bold step forward in ergonomic innovation, fostering safer, healthier, and more resilient working environments.
