RECYPOT©: BREWED FOR A GREENER FUTURE

ABSTRACT

The RECYPOT© project introduces an innovative and sustainable gardening

solution by creating biodegradable plant pots from recycled coffee grounds. This eco-

friendly alternative to traditional plastic pots addresses plastic pollution while

contributing to a circular economy, as RECYPOT© decomposes naturally, enriching

the soil. The project, which has secured copyright via myIPO, aims to reduce plastic

waste, repurpose organic waste, and increase consumer awareness of sustainable

products. The methodology includes collecting coffee grounds, drying, sieving, mixing

with starch and water, molding, and heating to produce durable pots. Experimental

results validate the product's structural integrity and environmental benefits, while

market analysis reveals strong consumer interest, with 83.5% of respondents willing

to purchase RECYPOT©. Collaborations with local organizations and coffee shops

further enhance community engagement, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal

11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. RECYPOT© exemplifies the potential of

transforming waste into valuable, environmentally friendly products, showcasing a 

successful model for innovative sustainability in gardening.
