ST1964: QC Check: Defect Detect

Sakinah Binti Abdul Wahab Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM)

This project introduces a quality-control-themed educational board game that transforms industrial defect-detection concepts into mathematics learning for primary school students in Years 3 to 6. Through simulated inspection activities, players assume the role of quality inspectors and apply mathematical skills to identify defects and assess product quality. A pilot implementation involving 23 students demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in mathematics achievement, while students maintained positive perceptions towards mathematics following the intervention. Supporting SDG 4 (Quality Education), this innovation offers an engaging approach to strengthening numeracy skills through contextualized learning while fostering critical thinking, teamwork, and quality awareness among young learners.
