The purpose of this research is to develop an interactive learning media mobile application by using gamification and artificial intelligence approaches in smartphones to help children increase interest and enthusiasm for learning Jawi and improve their understanding of the material presented. Although there is a wide availability of Jawi learning applications, few to none of them accommodate the children’s actual needs and level of proficiency. Thus, this research aims to utilise artificial intelligence algorithms in the process of developing this application, which are natural language processing and adaptive learning algorithms on top of gamification. The resulting application should be able to cater to 7–12-year-olds in aiding their learning of Jawi. The system aims to captivate and engage children in the learning process by incorporating gamification, storytelling, and interactive elements that are appealing and age-appropriate.
