This research deals with the development of Piper Betel L. extract oral breath strip to overcome the major issue of halitosis (bad breath). Halitosis is a common condition which is usually due to neglected oral hygiene, poor dietary habits, and underlying health problems, thus necessitating a proper management. Piper Betel L. a long-established medicinal plant well-known for its antimicrobial and oral health properties, was extracted with undenatured ethanol in order to maintain its bioactive compounds. These compounds are then homogeneously added into solvent cast breath strips. Moreover, the phytochemical screening of the extract has demonstrated to possess major bioactive ingredients including alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids, steroids, and terpenoids, which are responsible for the antimicrobial activity. Our breath strips are created, allowing for immediate breath freshness and a synergistic approach with Piper Betel properties to help counteract mouth bacterial and encourage oral hygiene. The plant-based formula responds to the growing trend in natural oral care that consumers seek, while innovating with new oral care products. These breath strips not only are convenient, portable, and effective with only natural ingredients, they contain great commercial potential. Providing a natural, convenient and effective solution to halitosis is sure to have these as big news on the oral care front.
