  • Conventional bitumen pavements often suffer from premature deterioration due to heavy traffic loads and harsh climatic conditions, while plastic waste and agricultural by-products create environmental challenges. REBIT (Reinforced Bitumen) is an innovative pavement material developed by modifying bitumen with recycled plastic and coconut shell powder. Recycled plastic enhances elasticity and resistance to deformation, while coconut shell powder improves bonding and moisture resistance. Laboratory evaluations indicate that REBIT demonstrates improved stability, durability and load-bearing capacity compared to conventional bitumen. This sustainable approach reduces waste pollution, lowers maintenance costs and supports environmentally responsible road construction for future urban infrastructure.
