This project is to improve students’ motivation and engagement in writing through penpal project. This project was introduced as an alternative exercise to the old method of using worksheet. This project was carried from March 2023 until January 2024 using various strategies including collaborative, cooperative learning through the jigsaw method introduced by Elliot Aronson in 1971 and brainstorming. This project gives room for student to write freely without teacher’s interference. They are allowed to write and make mistakes. They can identify words and structural errors by themselves after several attempts of writing. This project has been spread through Facebook involving 200 schools in and out of Malaysia.
