Abstract: SWeP Smart Weather Predictor – A Localized Weather Monitoring System
Extreme weather events, such as heavy rainfall and heat waves, pose significant risks to daily life. Existing weather forecasting apps often provide broad, generalized predictions that may lack accuracy for specific locations, leading to delays in necessary action. Our innovation, the SWeP Smart Weather Predictor, addresses this challenge by providing real-time weather data for localized areas, ensuring communities receive timely and precise alerts.
The SWeP system utilizes a BMP180 barometric pressure sensor and a DH222 humidity and temperature sensor to detect real-time weather changes within a specific area, such as a housing neighborhood. The gathered data is processed via the Wemos D1 R2 board and sent to the cloud, where it is accessible through an Android application. Additionally, Telegram alerts notify residents immediately of detected extreme weather conditions, allowing them to take proactive measures to protect themselves and their families.
Designed for installation in residential and community areas, the SWeP Smart Weather Predictor enhances public safety by offering accurate, localized weather forecasting. This innovation aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 9 (Industries, Infrastructure, and Innovation) by improving weather prediction technology and enhancing preparedness for natural events.
With strong commercial potential, our team, envisions the SWeP Smart Weather Predictor being implemented in housing areas, communities, and local government facilities, ensuring safer and more informed decision-making for extreme weather events.
