The aim for this project is to study the usage of Hypostomus Plecostomus waste for pet supplement while indirectly reducing the fish population to save local fish. In this study, the fish waste disposal such as bone, scale, fish head, fish tail and fin are used. The fish waste was boiled in NaOH 0.5M for 30 mins, then it was neutralised by using HCL 0.1M. The fish waste was rinsed with distilled water and dried at 105°C for 2 hours in an oven. Then it was grinded into fine powder and inserted into capsules. Previous studies indicate that dehydrated pleco fish offers an outstanding nutritional beneficial for pets which are calcium, collagen and gelatine. These can improve coat quality, joint health, and overall vitality of pets. Besides that, heavy metals such as Lead are below the safe limit for pet consumption. This invasive species can be abundantly found in our river. Since our project only use the fish waste, hence we can reduce the cost production and maximizes profit. If this supplement is produced on a large scale, it can help to eliminate this fish population and restore back our local fish in the river.
