Buses are an essential part of public transportation in Malaysia, with many bus operators covering all locations in the country. Buses connect passengers to various cities and towns, making it easier for people to travel around Malaysia. Currently, the number of accidents and fatalities involving express buses remains high, which is why passenger safety is a major concern. The government and private sector have taken steps to improve the safety of express buses. According to a study by Azman & Wae (2021), road factors are the main cause of express bus accidents from the perspective of bus operators. However, other subfactors, such as driver behavior and bus conditions, should also be addressed to reduce the rate of accidents. For instance, not all buses have seat belts for passengers. This study focuses on developing intelligent airbags (IntelliBag Bus) for passengers in express bus seats. An airbag is part of a car's safety restraint system that quickly inflates with air during a crash.
