Food waste is a global issue, with Malaysia discarding 17,000 liters of waste daily, which is in violation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aim 12.3 and SDG 12.5. To address this issue, Mersing is implementing an initiative to produce products from fish residues from the Fish Product (Keropok) factory, which is a major industry in Mersing. The products have passed laboratory testing at Johor Plantation Central Analytical Laboratory, demonstrating high levels of magnesium, calcium, boron, copper, and zinc, which are beneficial for plant health and growth. These products have also been marketed and achieved Technology Readiness Level 9.
