Roblox: Year 3, Food, Please! is an interactive ESL enrichment innovation designed to enhance engagement and participation among Year 3 pupils through immersive game-based learning. Traditional classroom enrichment activities often rely on static and minimally interactive approaches, which may limit pupils’ motivation and meaningful involvement in language learning. In response to this issue, the innovation integrates storytelling, gamification, and digital interaction within the Roblox platform to create a more engaging and experience-based learning environment. The activity follows a narrative in which pupils assist a character, Mrs Ayu, who is experiencing a stomach ache. Pupils complete a series of interactive quizzes and tasks within the virtual environment to help solve the problem, thereby promoting purposeful participation and contextualised learning. The innovation is accessible through laptops, tablets, and smartphones with internet connectivity, while accompanying worksheets are provided as an offline alternative to ensure flexibility and inclusivity. The expected impact of the innovation includes increased learner engagement, active participation, motivation, and enjoyment in ESL enrichment activities. By embedding educational content within a meaningful storyline, pupils are encouraged to take ownership of their learning while developing language skills in a dynamic setting. Furthermore, the adaptable game template enables educators to modify the storyline and content for different topics and learning objectives, making the innovation sustainable and transferable across various ESL enrichment contexts.
