JS379: Project Makeover - My School Chair

Amanda Natasha Binti Anas Sekolah Kebangsaan Sena

Many items such as books, lunch boxes, and clothes are brought to school daily, but plain school chairs lack sufficient storage and are hard and uncomfortable. The need for more storage space and a comfortable chair was identified. The objective was to transform a plain school chair into a chair with multiple storage spaces and a comfortable seat. Recycled materials such as cardboard boxes, old food containers, foam from used packaging materials, and metal hooks were used. Storage spaces were added under the seat and on the sides, along with a bottle holder, a small rubbish bin, and multiple hooks. Foam cushions were placed on the seat and backrest to increase comfort. Drilling and fixing screws were done with parental assistance. The multi-storage chair helps keep students' belongings organized and clean. Foam cushions provide comfort for long periods of sitting, addressing the issue of hard and uncomfortable chairs. The project demonstrates that creativity and recycled materials can significantly improve school chairs. DIY kits are suggested for other children to create their own chairs. This initiative would help students stay organized and comfortable while promoting environmental sustainability through the use of recycled materials.
