The Alani-Lunar Eclipse Kit is an innovative, interactive, and portable diorama model designed to enhance STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education for primary school students. This project aims to provide a hands-on learning experience that stimulates cognitive, psychomotor, and affective development through active engagement with astronomical phenomena, in particular the lunar eclipse. The kit, made from a combination of recycled waste materials and simple electronic components, promotes not only scientific understanding but also sustainable practices and environmental awareness. The model effectively illustrates the phases of a lunar eclipse, allowing learners to visualize and understand the event from beginning to end. Supplemental learning content is embedded in the kit to reinforce key concepts, facilitate conceptual connections, and highlight cause-and-effect relationships. By integrating motion, illumination, and guided exploration, the Alani-Lunar Eclipse Kit encourages critical thinking, creativity and curiosity — fundamental qualities in STEM learning. In addition, the use of recyclable materials supports environmentally conscious innovation that aligns the project with global sustainability goals. This approach demonstrates how science education can be made accessible, engaging and environmentally responsible. Preliminary self-learning and classroom observations indicate that the kit significantly improves student motivation, knowledge retention and participation. The project therefore fulfils a dual purpose: it serves as an effective educational tool and as a model for upcycling waste into meaningful educational resources. Ultimately, the Alani-Lunar Eclipse Kit represents a scalable, cost-effective solution to support early STEM education while promoting environmental awareness among young learners.
