ST1255: LIQUEFIED PETROLEUM GAS LEAKAGE DETECTION SYSTEM BASED ON IOT

MUHAMMAD HAFIZ BIN HESHAM Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia

Fires in residential and restaurant premises can be deadly and cause severe injuries. These fires often result from LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) leaks. This study discusses the development and implementation of an LPG leak detection system that can also detect fires. LPG is a commonly used energy source but can be dangerous if it leaks without the user's awareness. This system, based on IoT technology, aims to help detect LPG leaks and fires. It uses IoT hardware such as NodeMCU ESP8266, MQ-2 gas sensors, infrared (IR) detectors, and buzzer alarms to detect, record, warn, and display current gas levels, fire presence, and safety status to users. The system is designed to alert users to the presence of LPG leaks, activate alarms, and initiate ventilation to prevent explosions or fires.
