ST909: EcoWatch: Intelligent Water Pollution Monitoring And Detection System

Muhamad Danish Bin Saiful Rizal Universiti Malaysia Kelantan

In 2022, it was reported that 29 rivers or 4% of the total 672 rivers in our country were polluted. According to Bernama’s report in November 2023, Malaysia continues to grapple with frequent water supply disruptions due to pollution, greatly impacting the daily lives of millions of cosumers in Malaysia. Despite the presence of automatic water quality detection systems, the persistence of water pollution issues continues to affect local residents. It is observed that tests to determine water contamination still need to be conducted either in laboratories or in locations equipped with water quality detection systems. Therefore, Ecowatch, an intelligent water pollution monitoring and detection system was proposed to enhance water quality monitoring efficiency by leveraging IoT technology. Once the system detects pollution, notifications will be promptly sent to the administrator via a Telegram bot and the system can autonomously predict the types of pollutants based on quality indicators, enhancing proactive response capabilities.
