Learning statistics can be critical, particularly for students with weaker math backgrounds or limited interest in mathematics. Innovative teaching methods are essential to ensure comprehension of the syllabus. Introducing STAT-MAP, a novel statistical learning approach, aimed at students of Introduction to Statistics (STA104) from October 2023 to February 2024. Following each chapter, students create expressive mind maps reflecting their understanding of subtopics using various creative mediums like sketching, drawing, and writing. These STAT-MAPs are shared on platforms like Google Drive, Onedrive, and Padlet. As a result, over 76% of students report improved understanding, with STAT-MAPs aiding in identifying challenging topics and guiding additional efforts.
