ST1101: MechaSpray: Sustainable Agriculture Sprayer

Muhammad Danial Bin Ishak Politeknik Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah

The conventional method of herbicide spraying in plantations still relies on backpack sprayers, which can indirectly cause negative impacts on users in the long term. The objective of this project is to design, develop through fabrication processes, and conduct testing on at two-wheeled herbicide spraying machine called MechaSpray. The evaluation carried out aspects of function, stability, and effectiveness of its use. In addition, several scopes of project have been determined in this project, which involve the development of a trolley system with rear spray control, the use of a single sprayer with side-to-side movement mechanism and focusing the project on usage in flat ground surfaces. All of these were established to resolve several key issues arising from the use of the existing method, such as user fatigue, high risk of chemical exposure, and physical discomfort due to prolonged used. Overall, MechaSpray offers an innovative, ergonomic, user-friendly and practical solution, making it suitable for application across various segments of society.
