Abstract

The diversity of teaching techniques continues to evolve, and the integration of games in learning can stimulate the mind and enhance students’ motivation. However, students often struggle to understand the fundamental concepts of simple interest, compound interest, and investment returns in Chapter 3: Savings & Investment, leading to a lack of interest in Mathematics. This study aims to attract students’ interest and improve their understanding through the innovation of Finance Frenzy, a game-based teaching method applied to this topic. This experimental study involved 10 students from Class 3 Permata. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test assessments and analyzed by comparing mean scores. The findings showed a significant improvement, with the pre-test mean score at only 13.8%, which increased to 61.9% in the post-test, reflecting a difference of 48.1%. This proves that a game-based approach can help students grasp mathematical concepts more effectively compared to conventional methods. This study suggests that game-based learning, such as Finance Frenzy, be expanded to other topics to enhance focus and problem-solving abilities in complex mathematical concepts. The study's implications indicate that innovative, game-based teaching methods make learning more engaging and reinforce students' understanding of abstract mathematical concepts.
