“The Active Avengers!” is an animated educational innovation developed for Year 4 pupils based on Topic 9: Get Active. This innovation transforms a reading activity from the textbook into an engaging cartoon video to enhance the teaching and learning process among primary ESL learners. Traditional textbook-based reading activities often rely heavily on static texts and images, which may limit pupils’ understanding, interest and participation during lessons. In response to this issue, the innovation utilises AI-generated animation to bring the textbook content and characters to life in a more interactive and meaningful way. The video follows the original storyline and characters from the textbook while integrating colourful visuals, audio and animated actions to support pupils’ comprehension and vocabulary acquisition. In addition, the innovation focuses on introducing new vocabulary through contextualised learning that enables pupils to listen to correct word pronunciation and improve their reading skills more effectively. The combination of storytelling, animation and audio elements creates a fun and enjoyable learning environment that encourages active participation and sustained attention among learners. This innovation also supports teachers in delivering lessons creatively rather than depending solely on textbook materials. Ultimately, “The Active Avengers!” serves as a flexible and engaging digital teaching resource that can be adapted to other ESL topics to promote meaningful and interactive language learning experiences in primary classrooms.
