ST860: SG Patch : Biodegradable Healing Wound Patch

Wound care demands sustainable, effective solutions that accelerate healing, prevent infections, and reduce environmental impact. This study presents the development of SG-Patch, an innovative, biodegradable wound patch formulated using sago starch as the primary biopolymer and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) green-synthesized with Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica) extract. The incorporation of Gotu Kola-derived AgNPs leverages its natural antimicrobial and wound-healing properties, enhancing the patch's therapeutic efficacy. The DSG-patch is evaluated for antibacterial activity, biodegradability, and mechanical performance. Designed for the treatment of chronic wounds, diabetic ulcers, burns, and emergency care, the patch offers a plant-based, eco-friendly alternative to conventional plastic-based dressings. Its natural composition and multifunctional benefits support faster recovery and align with the need for sustainable medical materials in modern healthcare.
