A. Problem Statement

The increasing amount of waste materials such as plastic bottles, boxes, and cans has caused environmental pollution to become more serious. Most of these materials are simply discarded even though they can still be reused. In addition, society lacks awareness about the importance of recycling and reusing waste materials. At the same time, users need storage products that are affordable, practical, and environmentally friendly. Therefore, an innovation using waste materials should be developed to reduce solid waste while producing useful and valuable products.

B. Project Analysis and Methodology

Observations show that many materials such as plastic bottles, boxes, and cans are discarded without being recycled. This situation contributes to the increase of solid waste and environmental pollution. In addition, many users require storage containers that are affordable, practical, and easy to obtain.

This project was developed using used boxes and old newspapers. Through the analysis conducted, it was found that waste materials still possess suitable characteristics to be transformed into new products. These materials are lightweight, easy to shape, and inexpensive. Therefore, the use of waste materials can help reduce wastage while adding value to unused items.

Based on the analysis carried out, it was discovered that many waste materials such as plastic bottles, boxes, and cans can still be reused to create useful products. The use of these materials not only reduces environmental pollution but also helps save costs and increases awareness about recycling practices.

To produce this innovation, the methodology used involved several processes, namely:

  1. Information gathering
  2. Collection of waste materials
  3. Product design
  4. Product production process
  5. Product testing
  6. Product improvement to ensure better quality, safety, and practicality

C. Innovation and Creativity

This project highlights elements of innovation and creativity through the production of new products using easily obtainable waste materials. Materials such as boxes and newspapers were transformed into products that are more useful, attractive, and practical.

Creativity was applied in the aspects of design, color selection, and product functionality to suit various users. This innovation also adds value to waste materials while encouraging recycling practices and environmental sustainability.

In addition, this innovation project has a positive impact on the environment and society because it helps reduce waste through recycling practices. The project also helps save costs because the materials used are easy to obtain and do not require high expenses.

In terms of effectiveness, the products produced are practical, easy to use, and capable of meeting users’ needs. This project also successfully increases awareness about the importance of environmental care while encouraging a culture of innovation and creativity among students and the community.

D. Impact and Effectiveness

The impact of this innovation project can be seen through the reduction in the use of waste materials that pollute the environment. This project also helps increase public awareness about the importance of recycling and reusing used materials.

From the aspect of effectiveness, the products produced are durable, easy to handle, cost-saving, and able to function effectively. Furthermore, this innovation encourages creativity and innovative thinking in producing beneficial products from waste materials.

In addition, this innovation can also reduce the excessive use of digital gadgets among school students. Uncontrolled use of digital gadgets may negatively affect students’ health. With this innovation product, students can carry out reading and learning activities more safely. Students are also able to create their own storyboards according to their creativity and abilities.

E. Cost and Returns

The production cost of this innovation project is low because most of the materials are obtained from recycled waste materials. The main expenses only involve additional materials such as glue, paint, and decorations.

Therefore, this project is not only environmentally friendly but also cost-effective. Students can also produce this innovation in various sizes according to their creativity and capabilities. Besides benefiting users, this project also helps cultivate the values of saving, creativity, and environmental awareness.
