iSafePath is an intelligent safety pathway system developed to enhance pedestrian safety in schools and public environments through the integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technology, smart lighting, and real-time monitoring systems. The innovation was inspired by safety concerns involving dark walkways, slippery surfaces, and unsafe movement conditions, particularly in educational institutions during early morning and evening hours. The system utilises motion sensors, automated lighting activation, QR-based checkpoints, and data-driven monitoring to create responsive and safer pedestrian pathways.
The product is designed as a sustainable and green innovation by incorporating solar-powered modules and low-energy consumption mechanisms. In addition, iSafePath has the potential to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) for predictive risk detection and automated safety alerts in future developments. The system not only improves user safety but also supports smart school and smart city initiatives through real-time analytics and infrastructure monitoring.
The innovation offers broad applicability in schools, universities, parks, residential areas, and public walkways. The estimated prototype cost ranges from RM150 to RM330, making it affordable and scalable for wider implementation. iSafePath has successfully achieved recognition through the Gold Medal, Best Visuality Award, and Best Presenter Award at the SDG Talk Paya Besar and INNOPINTAR Young Innovators Challenge 2026. Overall, the innovation contributes towards sustainable development goals (SDGs) by promoting safer, smarter, and environmentally friendly public infrastructure.
