This study looks at how a simple game called Word Hunt can help young learners improve their English vocabulary in a fun and engaging way. The research was carried out with Year 1, 2 and 3 pupils in a rural Malaysian school, where many children struggle with learning English words. Word Hunt uses elements of gamification—like collecting points, unlocking levels, and earning rewards—to make vocabulary learning more exciting. Using a mix of tests, observations, and pupil feedback, the study found that the pupils not only learned and remembered more words after playing the game, but they were also more motivated and interested in learning English. The game turned vocabulary lessons into an enjoyable experience and helped build the children’s confidence in using the language. This suggests that using simple, game-based tools like Word Hunt can make a real difference in English language classrooms, especially for young learners in rural areas.
