The Checklist Learning for Effective Academic Revision (CLEAR) is an innovation designed to enhance students’ learning autonomy and exam preparedness through a structured, syllabus based revision checklist. CLEAR integrates five key components—Checklist, Learn, Exercise, Assessment, and Revision—to guide students systematically from content familiarisation to mastery through continuous self-monitoring.
This study evaluates the effectiveness of CLEAR among students enrolled in the Accounting 2 (AA025) course. Analysis of student usage indicates that 83.93% fully utilised CLEAR, while 16.07% used it partially. Performance data further show that students who completed all checklist components demonstrated stronger academic outcomes, with 74.47% achieving grades A and A , compared to 55.56% among partial users. These findings suggest a positive relationship between systematic checklist-based revision and improved PSPM examination results.
CLEAR provides a transparent and structured pathway for students to track progress across key Accounting topics, including cost behaviour, costing methods, overhead allocation, process costing, variance analysis, and decision making techniques. By empowering students to independently identify gaps and reinforce understanding, CLEAR supports the development of self regulated learners and promotes consistency in academic revision.
Overall, CLEAR demonstrates strong potential as an effective pedagogical tool to strengthen revision habits, enhance topic mastery, and improve student performance in accounting courses. Its structured, student centred design positions it as a scalable innovation for broader implementation across similar academic disciplines.
