Abstract
This study aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of the Intelligent Geography Module (I-GEOMip) supported by Microsoft PowerPoint technology, in enhancing learning modalities for Geography at Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM). In line with the rapid advancement of educational technology, the integration of digital tools in the classroom has become increasingly essential to enrich learning experiences and facilitate students’ mastery of complex concepts. I-GEOMip is designed by incorporating interactive and multimedia elements available in Microsoft PowerPoint, such as animations, 3D visualizations, and interactive quizzes, with the goal of strengthening students' understanding of challenging Geography topics.
This study adopts a quantitative approach with an experimental design involving two groups: an experimental group using I-GEOMip and a control group employing traditional teaching methods. Data were collected through instruments such as pre- and post-tests, student satisfaction surveys, and analysis of academic performance in Geography. The effectiveness of the I-GEOMip module was assessed by measuring changes in academic achievement, levels of student understanding, and their motivation in the learning process.
The findings indicate that the use of I-GEOMip significantly improved students' comprehension of geographical concepts, enhanced their academic performance, and strengthened their interest and motivation in the subject. The module had a positive impact on how students interacted with learning materials and made it easier for them to grasp difficult topics. It is hoped that this study will serve as a model for the integration of technology in Geography education at MRSM and other educational institutions, and provide guidance for educators to effectively utilize digital tools to improve the quality of education in Malaysia.
