It is often hard to grow fresh food in cities due to limited land and water resources. Transporting food from rural areas is also costly and has environmental impacts like pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from long-distance travel and refrigeration. LoopieBloom is a smart rotary hydroponic, soil-less farming system that uses a cylindrical, rotating structure to grow plants, with LED lights mounted on the central shaft. The rotation ensures all plants receive even exposure to light and air, while the hydroponic setup provides them with water and nutrient solutions directly to the roots, increasing efficiency and allowing for year-round growth.  LoopieBloom is equipped with sensors and a pump that automatically check and refill water and nutrients. It also features an AI-powered camera that detects unhealthy leaves and sends alerts directly to your phone. Alongside this, there's a web app called EcoHarvest Hub, which teaches users about composting, recycling, and includes fun eco-games that promote sustainable habits. In our tests, the system helped plants grow well, used significantly less water, and made plant care much easier. More than just a way to grow food, LoopieBloom is a fun, hands-on tool that helps students explore STEM, science, technology, and environmental protection in a meaningful way.
