Knee pain and muscle fatigue are increasingly experienced not only by the elderly but also by students, workers, and hikers who frequently perform physically demanding activities. Existing knee support products are often either too basic to provide movement assistance or too expensive, heavy, and dependent on electricity. Therefore, KneeX Assist was developed as a lightweight, affordable, and fully mechanical knee exoskeleton that provides effective knee support for everyday users.
KneeX Assist is based on the concept of a Passive Mechanical Knee Support System, which utilizes springs and hinges to assist natural knee movement without the use of batteries or electronic components. The system stores energy when the knee bends and releases it when the leg straightens, helping to reduce strain on the knee joint and improve movement efficiency. The device is constructed with a gas strut and 3D-printed PLA components, nuts and bolts, and buckle straps, bearing, sponge making it durable, adjustable, and user-friendly.
This innovation aims to reduce pressure on the knee, improve mobility, and lower the risk of knee-related injuries during daily activities. Its simple design, low production cost, and ease of use make it suitable for various applications, including schools, farming, hiking, and light industrial work. In conclusion, KneeX Assist is a practical and innovative solution that enhances knee support while remaining accessible and sustainable for a wide range of users.
