MUHAMMAD RAFI'UDDIN BIN AMINUDDIN Universiti Malaysia Terengganu

Abstract : Coastal planning and development is a very important matter and is able to
generate local socioeconomics for a potential study area. Through this study, the
priority given to coastal areas is in the east coast zone, which is in the state of
Terengganu. The study carried out focuses on the development of new coastal ports
by using certain parameters that are highly capable to provide images suitable for
processing data. Many problems related to the identification of areas for the
development of an area such as land suitability and so on are studied and resolved
through this study. The use of data such as land type, slope and land use will give a
good impression on this study because each of these aspects is placed in an overlay
and the results will be carried out by ArcGIS software to obtain the desired data in
accordance with the objectives that have been set in this study. The use of clear and
accurate satellite images is used through this study such as the Shuttle Radar
Topography Mission (SRTM) and also Sentinel-2. This study area in detail covers the
entire coastal area in the state of Terengganu starting from the Besut district up to the
Kemaman district. All the data obtained are classified in the concept of suitable
depending on the characteristics of the parameters used in some areas. The data
analyzed through this study is very useful to the Marine Department because it can be
used as a reference for future development.
